Thank you dear. I admit I don't know what to do- this is unprecedented. It's unexplored territory. We have to count on individual bureaucrats to do the right thing and defy the president and support the court orders. This will take all of us pulling together, and there's plenty of dissension and divisiveness- no one is certain of how best to oppose the onslaught of morally repugnant executive orders boiling out of the oval office. One thing I do know that we must do is continue to make noise. We can't get tired and we have to keep up the fight. And we need representatives who will stand their ground. We get wall to wall coverage of this here as it's not just America that is affected by Trump's actions but the whole world. Our Taoiseach will soon be visiting for the annual presentation of the Shamrock on St.. Patrick's Day. There are some here who don't want him to go however he will go and will be watched carefully to make sure he gets our views across....but it is best to keep the door open.....you know " keep your friends close and your enemies closer" and all that. ~~Anais Nin~~

All of this....most recently the Immigration fiasco....has hit me very hard. I was not prepared for how I felt and now I know it's akin to the stages of grief you go through when someone close to you has died. Maybe that's a bit melodramatic but it's the only way I can describe it. Depression, hopelessness, anxiety, fear for the future....and somewhere in there, I managed to participate in the Women's March. And that's what I will continue to do, any chance I get...participate in the resistance. My son reminded me that some resistance fighters in the past died before the battle was won because it took so long...and that we have to be ready to fight, even when/if it doesn't seem like we are gaining any headway. Voters weren't as energized in the last election as they might have been, but I suspect that won't be as much of a problem in the midterms or the following presidential race. I think there are too but instead of a grand showdown I think this will be a war of attrition, a slow eroding of the exuberance Trump's dummies felt when they had first succeeded in crashing the White House. And we'll wear them down. I think fascism and right wing wacko-ism will lose credibility if we keep the pressure on, but it'll be exhausting and there will be a hell of a lot of collateral damage.
