I am in awe if the size of that moss, and the color too. ... It looks so much more alive than what I see on the trees around here.

And froggies! .. And cranes! And so many trees.
That photo was startling- it looked a bit unreal in nature, but the photo just looks like it has to be edited. It wasn't. The mosses in the forest this year are having a great time of it. We've had warm sunny days lately, and they're getting a jump on spring, before the trees leaf out and shade them. We usually don't see a lot of full leaves til late April or early May. If we get rain, it could be sooner this year. The vines and shrubs are budding now- quite early.

The frogs were a nice surprise. It was a windy day, with gusts up to fifty miles an hour. But down in the swamp there is shelter from the wind, and they were out in force!

All photos are wonderful, but the one of forest awakening is beautiful and symbolic. Love them!

I had no idea when I took that picture that it was going to appear that way. When I uploaded it and opened it I was startled and amazed at how stark it is. It looks like an old colorized or painted photo. But it's un-retouched or edited. What a piece of luck that one is!

We just take it one day at a time here, when we can manage it. Every day together on this earth is a gift. I mean to enjoy it while I can. You never know what tomorrow might bring.

I responded to your comment earlier, and it's disappeared! So I'll say thank you again, and I'll keep saying it, even if these dumb bastards keep deleting it.

I love the shot of the Mrs. and Gracie walking. I hope you get a print of that one. One of the thing I love about nature is the surprise of who is going to show up. You never know but nature usually provides opportunity.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

Great pics as usual. I really enjoyed the pictures of the cranes... not sure if I have ever seen those particular cranes. I never noticed the red on their heads anyway. Gracie looks good! Yea spring just sort of is here all the sudden huh lol... seems like we all had a mild winter.
They're really hard to find in the marsh. There's a fair number of them there, but they're so perfectly colored that they melt right into the background. Even the red streak on their heads looks remarkably like a cattail at a distance. I like watching them fly overhead too- they look like pterodactyls.

I like that too, but she wasn't happy with it. I noticed that she switched hats and coats for the next day's hike. Before we know it she'll be trying to hike in a gown and FMP's. I try to tell her it's all about comfort out there, but she's still a city girl.

We'd love to see you here! I've never been to the northwest, or BC, and we're thinking about a road trip.

This reminds me of the Keweenaw Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula. The Keweenaw is very cold, of course, but it's rocky and wild and it's surrounded by Lake Superior.
