If I could have shot it I'd have posted it! But it looks like I would have lost all my female readers to sudden illness.

It wouldn't be cold if you were there, V.

It's been up and down here, mostly up. We had a night at five degrees and a couple of other cool ones, and now rain. Next week, back to cool again. Strange winter!

PD does spoil me. I try to spoil her too, but she's ahead on points. I pulled ahead a bit at Christmas- bought her a metal detector. She's been coveting one.

The textures of winter. So lovely!

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

Isn't it pretty? We got a little bit of snow today, and cold finally. Maybe we'll get some winter yet.

Sounds lovely and I agree - everything is much more bright and cheery with a coating of snow.

There's something to love in every season, but I enjoy winter. Winter I think is in some ways harder than in the old days. We have more modern "conveniences", and it's easier and cheaper to stay warm, and we can ship in fruits and veggies and greens...but now everything is a rush. We have to plod ahead as if it were summer and there were no impediments to speed. A long time ago, we slowed down in winter, and took a look at it, instead of cussing when the first snowflake fell and keep that up for months. I like winter. The cold rivets your attention. There's a stark monochrome beauty to it, and the world is at rest.

I love the waterfall treks you take, and the photos you post of them. This is sandy, gravelly country and we don't have many falls. You have to go to the U.P. for that. I think you and I'd be good hiking buddies.

Well, thanks. It's beautiful out there. All you have to do is look for it. There was a snowy owl hooting in the forest last winter, but I never did find him. Maybe this year!

Not even the thought of tamponic gastronomy can quell my envy of portobello ravioli with beef and sausage sauce, mopped up with garlic toast.

Throw in a non-tannic red wine and a chocolate/cream dessert, and the day would be complete!

All offered up to a keen appetite honed by a winter morning's walk... from the snowless city I say "Some people gots all da luck."

I'm off to flagellate the garlic press...

It's good stuff all right! I had beer.

That thing with the garlic press...that sounds painful. Unless you have a willing sub. In any case, that's gonna leave a mark.
