Bad mouthing the ex

I was walking through the mall today looking for some sort of birthday gift for a friend of mine when I saw this girl I had sex with years and years ago.
She has two now - none of them mine thank god I could never procreate with such a vile creature.
She said hey, small talk, was interested in what I was doing back in this neck of the woods, telling me who was still kicking around, that sort of thing.
She then asked if I was still married, and when I said no, she then told me about how much she didn't like my ex, that she was this and that and the other....
Why do women do this?
I have nothing but respect for my ex-wife. We aren't exes because we hate each other, we are exes because she got tired of the army life, because she got tired of my crap, and because we didn't love each other anymore. I loved her when I met her, and I thought we were doing the right thing by getting married, but sometimes things don't work out and honestly, bad mouthing someones ex - is an actually an insult to me and my choices in life.
Being the fucking prick that I am I asked why her don't look the same. To which she had nothing much to say except she had one with one guy and one with another.

I did find a gift though, that is one thing I am not a prick about. Hope she likes football.
