sex addiction again... I was debating the issue of whether sex addiction is actually a medical condition with my friend who is a research psychiatrist. He was firmly in the camp that the dopamine cycle is the same for such sex addicts as the substance abusers. Maybe so. But unlike heroin or tobacco, sex is a natural function and the body is designed to enjoy it. An enthusiast of sex is not abnormal, just as someone who enjoys food and drink may be a gourmand but not a food addict. I also note that unlike heroin, sex activity does not have the same physical withdrawal effect, habituation or criminal sanction for sex unless you violate the law by , public sex, or sex. I do think that too much sex and too much food can be bad for your health if it interferes with the proper bodily functions. But life usually prevents such abuse as there are not enough sex partners to fully particiopate in total sex addiction. At least I have yet to find one... But that does not prevent me from trying...
