Memories and What-Not's ... ... As with many of my trains of thought ... once the spigot gets opened I tend to develop a flowing conversation from what was supposed to be a short post. I posted this on a Blog I frequent and after reflection was curious to see what other's thoughts may be on the things raised like -- Work Life Balance - Whatever that is ... Raising - Yes, They are pay-back for your 'youthful indiscretions,' because Karma is a Bitch ... ... I know I've met her - She really is !.!.! LOL !.! Making Ends Meet - I had a choice when born to be beautiful or filthy rich ... ... I did not 'choose wisely ... ...' LOL !.! What thoughts have you - I'd love to know ... ... As always them names have been changed to protect the innocent ... ... *********************************************************************** First - Hearty congrats on the new arrival ... I loved the Monty Python quip !.! I soooo understand the issues you have at hand trying to balance work, family, marriage, and self ... ... OK - I didn't birth no baby ... but I can empathize right ?.? With respect to the dangling question ... ... If the weather is appropriate I shoot things. A day or at least an afternoon on the trap range blasting clay disks into oblivion is therapeutic and very cleansing for me. I do understand it's not for everyone. I also tend to read in the winter evenings - esp when 4:30 in the afternoon is zero-dark-thirty ... I can only image how much longer the nights feel in the Twin Cities. I will concede that my are much older than yours now -- My #1 just turned 19, #2 will be 18 before long. They were nearly 'Irish Twins' ... that's not so good for the descendants of Scots' ... !.! LOL !.! All the 'crap' you feel now will be replaced with other 'crap' like sports teams, x-tra curricular stuff, helping with homework, driving lessons, the list could go on ... ... in the end it's all good 'crap' - I promise !.! However, when mine were small -- Like yours ... I was running the family ranch and the early evenings were family time and the were on a pretty regimented schedule back then. Supper was by 6pm, Playtime with Dad till 7, Baths ... Story Time ... and they were off and into bed before 8pm or so ... ... I have to say that writing this has made me slightly nostalgic. I really miss the 'Playtime with Dad' and the baths. Mrs. recently started a using a shampoo with lavender like we used on the boys and I had a rush of memories. Isn't it weird how smells and noises can trigger memories ?.?.? I'm sure you have heard this all before; but, it is so damn true - Hold onto every moment you can with your at this age. All the other 'crap' in life is transitory and the details will be forgotten. The memories with the will bolster you, cheer you, and refresh you - because they are why we deal with the 'crap' ... ... and that never changes !.! OMG - I just read this back thru and I sound like I've been taking estrogen pills ... ... LOL !.! All kidding aside with respect to the demands of life right now - '... this too shall pass.'
