I guess it depends on the venue and the attitude of the folks. Keep it compact and cozy and you need guys comfortable rubbing up close and intimate with each other; not always that easy to find.  Depends on the circumstances. Swinging with 1 couple can be amazing at times. But I feel a mix of about 3 couples and a couple of guys is ideal.
